Course Description

Hello, my name is Ryu Alejandro López Zamora. I will be your teacher for level 1B.

This is an upper-basic level course set up for students who want to increase their skills up to an early-intermediate language domain level.

Students who finish this level will acquire the following skills and competences:

1- Attaining phonetic awareness of the three pronunciations of third person verbs in the simple present tense: /s/ /z/ /Iz/

2- Increasing phonetic awareness by learning the oral production of -ed regular past tense verbs: /t/ /d/ /Id/

3- An introduction to transcriptions as well as tools to increase one’s phonetic and speaking skills.

4- Being able to use basic prepositions of time and place.

5- Learning basic adverbs to enrich one’s lexicon.

6- Being able to retell a story or an experience using the past tense and past tense progressive.

7- Obtaining tools to recognize countable and uncountable nouns as well as other quantity expressions.

8-  Writing recipes while learning conjunctive adverbs and subordinators such as “next, then, after, before….”

9- Comparing objects and giving one’s preference over an array of options ( Comparatives vs Superlatives).

10- Being able to give simple instructions and directions to people on the street.

11- Learning the simple present continuous as well as description adjectives.

12- Using the simple future tense to express intention or likeness in the near or distant future.

13- Learning the present perfect tense to disclose personal information to listeners.
